So rainy days are a recipe for indoor play time, but if it’s truly storming out there, then some safety tips need to be followed.
- It’s a good idea to unplug any electronics that aren’t being used. There’s a chance that the power will go out, so it’s best not to drain the power.
- If your power does go out, then it is best to be prepared. Have batteries, flashlights, and battery powered TV or radio at the ready. Have snacks on hand and warm clothes and blankets in case it’s out for awhile.
- Steer Clear!
- Avoid standing too close to plumbing if there’s thunder and lighting. The pipes could still be holding a current. Also avoid standing too close to windows because heavy winds can blow debris around.
- Be Alert!
- Look before you step, flooding can make it slippery in your home. If your home does flood, make sure to direct fans toward the area in the first 24-48 hours to ensure the least amount of damage occurs. Also, be sure to document all of the damage for repair purposes.
