The environment is the one thing that effects everyone equally.  This is why we should all do our part to make this place an amazing place to live.  Whether you want to take small steps or large steps, we will help with a few tips to get you moving in the right direction.

We should try to show our Earth some love on more days than just Earth Day!

Make use of your blinds/curtains.  In the Summer time, use them to block out the heat and in the winter time, let the sun shine in.  Easier on your heating and cooling system, easier on your wallet and easier on the planet if we use large, power hungry appliances a bit less.

Fan your home.  Use the counter-clockwise setting for Summer and the clockwise setting for Winter.  It’s an energy efficient way to ventilate your home.

Dress for the occasion.  Changing your outfit when you get home from school, work, gym, dinner with the in-laws, what have you, can allow you to adjust your thermostat by a few degrees.  And let’s face it, shorts in Summer or our favorite sweatshirt in Winter is more comfortable anyway.

Crack a window.  Opening your windows in the Summer months can let a breeze flow through your home.  Or open them up in the evening and shut them up during the day to keep it consistently cool.

Be paperless.  Changing your billing to paperless can not only be easier on the environment, but easier on you too.  No more will you have to file your bills, access them all in one place.  You can probably even set up auto pay, takes the effort out of paying your bills!

Garden. You can plant flowers indigenous to your region, you can plant herbs for your kitchen or even plan ahead and plant a tree that will shade your home once it grows big and strong.

Annual maintenance.  Getting annual maintenance done on your HVAC system can improve the efficiency, lower utility bills, extend the life of your equipment and improve the health of your home.

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Being Green is becoming so popular that there are many tips out there to help you reduce your use of unnecessary items.  Simple tips would be to purchase a reusable water bottle and reusable shopping bags.  I don’t know about you, but here at Supreme Air Systems, we’re big fans of coffee.  Say you just need your Starbs fix, bring your own cup instead of using one of theirs.  Guess what, you’ll even get a discount for it!  If you do need to use plastic, cardboard, paper, etc., make sure you recycle it.  It’s just as simple as tossing something in the trash, but so much better for the world.

Composting is for the tough.  The next step to take after making a firm commitment to recycling would be to start composting.  It’s not for the light of heart, it involves decomposing food, worms, and loads of dirt, but if you’re willing to take that on, it’s a great way to remove waste from landfills.

Photosynthesis. Okay, not really, lol, but you can install solar panels at your home and use a renewable energy to power your home.

We hope these tips can get your moving in the right direction.  Let’s try to treat everyday like it’s Earth Day.
